The competition: Save the Crumbs of History - young people build museums

The European Solidarity Centre and the World War II Museum invite all to take part in a competition called Save the Crumbs of History - young people build museums. It consists in describing a historical souvenir from World War II or from the period of Solidarity and democratic opposition activity in years 1970-1989. The competition is open to students and schools in Poland and schools teaching in Polish abroad.

If you want to take part in the competition, fill in the FORM

The main idea and inspiration for participants of the competition is to look for and describe material Polish heritage (i.e. photographs, documents, newspapers, leaflets, stamps, letters, posters, books, printing equipment, military equipment, personal souvenirs etc.) and also the participation of young people in creating museum collections for the World War II Museum and the European Solidarity Centre. The organisers' intention is to find lost and forgotten materials from the Second World War era and from the times of democratic opposition, particularly Solidarity, and to arouse students' interest in the contemporary history of Poland, the past of their relatives and people from the nearest surroundings who are witnesses to history.

The patron of the competition is the Marshal of the Polish Parliament, Bronisław Komorowski, and the Minister of National Education, Katarzyna Hall. The organisers of the competition are: the European Solidarity Centre and the World War II Museum, with support from education boards.
